Gremlin
1970 – 1978
The AMC Gremlin is a subcompact car that was made by the American Motors Corporation (AMC) for nine model years. Compared to its competition, The Gremlin reduced development and manufacturing costs by adapting the distinctive abbreviated tail to the compact Hornet, producing what was described at its introduction as the first domestic-built American subcompact car.
AMC's designer Richard A. Teague may have come up with up the Gremlin's name. AMC apparently felt confident enough to not worry about the word's negative connotations. Time magazine noted two definitions for "gremlin": Defined by Webster's as "a small gnome held to be responsible for malfunction of equipment." American Motors' definition: "a pal to its friends and an ogre to its enemies."
The car was introduced on April Fools' Day 1970, six months ahead of subcompacts from Ford and GM. It was created to compete with imported cars from Japan and Germany; and although its appearance received some criticism, the Gremlin had an important advantage with its low price.[3]
"With AMC's thriftiest six-cylinder engine and base prices below US$2,000, AMC's 'import-fighter' initially sold well: over 26,000 in its abbreviated first season" before the Chevrolet Vega and Ford Pinto were introduced. The Gremlin would become American Motors' best-selling passenger car since the Rambler Classic. From April 1970 through 1978, a total of 671,475 Gremlins were built in the United States and Canada. With restyled rooflines, the AMC Spirit and the all-wheel-drive AMC Eagle would carry on the Gremlin's design until 1983, long after the demise of the Pinto and Vega.

Concord
1978-1983
The AMC Concord was a compact car made by the American Motors Corporation (AMC) starting with Model year 1978 and continuing to 1983. The Concord was intended to replace not only the similar AMC Hornet, but to some extent the aging mid-size AMC Matador that would be discontinued after 1978 in a market moving to downsized automobiles. Offered in four-door sedan, two-door coupé (through 1982), three-door hatchback (through 1979) and four-door station wagon forms, AMC sought to give its, by this time venerable, compact car an image of luxury, class, and value. The Concord was AMC's volume seller from the time it appeared.
78

Hornet
1970 – 1977
The AMC Hornet was a compact automobile made by the American Motors Corporation (AMC) beginning with the 1970 model year and continuing through the 1977 model year. The Hornet replaced the compact Rambler American marking the end of the Rambler marque in the American and Canadian markets.
The new Hornet became an important vehicle and platform for AMC. It served the company in one form or another for eighteen years, until the 1988 model year. It would outlast all other compact platforms from the competition that included the Chevrolet Nova, Ford Maverick, and Plymouth Valiant. The Hornet was also the basis for AMC's Gremlin, Concord, and the innovative all-wheel drive AMC Eagle.
76

Pacer
1975 – 1980
The AMC Pacer is a two-door compact automobile produced in the United States by the American Motors Corporation between 1975 and 1980. Its initial design idea was started in 1971. The car's unusual rounded shape with massive glass area greatly contrasted with the mostly boxy, slab-sided models of the era. The Pacer's "jellybean" body style is a readily recognized icon of the 1970s.

Re: Plusieurs Photos : AMC Gremlin, Concord, Hornet & Pacer
J`ai eu deux Gremlin 77, j`ai adoré ces véhicules, conduire une AMC c`était vraiment différent comme feeling
1978 Gremlin with Audi 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder
-AMC used Audi 4 cylinders for a short time
-They then used a Pontiac 151 cid for their 4 cylinder cars
-About the end of 1983 they made their own 151 straight 4 cylider, by chopping off 2 cylinders from their tried and true 6 cylinders. This enabled them to share some of the tooling for the 4 and 6 cylinder motors. This actually turned out to be a nice 4 cylinder.

Vu que sur un Gremlin certains monte un 360 ou un 401 , ca fait un beau jouet .

J ai eu une Prelude 83 avant de changer de pays ( finie pour 50 eeuro s ls scrap ) mais j ai pas encore eu de Pacer

Re: Plusieurs Photos : AMC Gremlin, Concord, Hornet & Pacer
