Bonjour Amateurs de code de couleurs spéciales ! Mr.Red

One of the most intriguing examples of Mopar history from the Wellborn Collection is this special-order 1969 Dodge Daytona, discovered by Tim Wellborn outside of Atlanta in 1999. He first saw the car, finished in Petty Blue, at rest under a tarp, where it had been kept since being taken as a trophy in an embittered divorce settlement. While not entirely committed to buying the car at first glance, Tim quickly closed the deal when he saw the 999 color code on the fender tag denoting special-order paint. Checking under the back seat for a factory broadcast sheet, he confirmed the original Omaha Orange paint with the still-intact sheet showing the corresponding paint code. Upon taking ownership, Wellborn turned the car over to his favorite restoration specialist, Roger Gibson. Over the following two years Gibson performed a “near-perfect” restoration, completing it in 2006. During the restoration, a quality control audit sheet was discovered above the headliner instructing that the car and wheels be painted Omaha Orange – further confirmation of the special paint order, as the order number on the audit sheet matched the order number on the broadcast sheet. In addition to its unique paint, this Daytona is equipped with its original 440/375 HP Magnum single 4-barrel V-8 engine mated to a New Process A833 4-speed manual transmission operated by a Hurst long-handle shifter. Inside is a Black interior with bucket seats, headrests and console, Light group, Rallye gauges with clock, Solid State AM radio and woodgrain-rimmed Sport steering wheel. One very special feature barely visible in its appearance on the cover of the September 2013 Muscle Car Review: NOS Goodyear Polyglas Redline tires mounted on a very rare set of NOS Kelsey-Hayes cast-center wheels, which are known today as recall wheels in the Mopar community due to Chrysler’s almost immediate recall in 1969. This very special Winged Warrior from the Wellborn Collection is documented with the original broadcast sheet, quality inspection audit sheet, a letter from the previous owner and restoration receipts.

Gibson commented, “This is one of the finest examples of a restored Daytona. It’s a state-of-the-art restoration, with no excuses. We have been doing work for Tim since 1989, he is beyond a customer; he’s a personal friend. Tim knew this car was a one-of-a-kind piece of history and wanted us to do the best job possible. Everything we do for Tim has to be drivable and we understand that going into the restoration: not one corner is cut on the jobs we do for Tim Wellborn because he likes everything to work. Tim always understood quality and what makes a car better, and demands the best job possible. It was painted Petty Blue when we found it, but it had the original motor, transmission and rear end, and it still had original paint evident during disassembly and easy to tell what color it was. The PPG paint number for Omaha Orange was written on the audit sheet. It is the exact same color code used to paint the hemi engines in the 1964-65 factory lightweight Super Stock cars. That, and the original engine and driveline, are what makes it different from every other Daytona.”

It is the exact same color code used to paint the hemi engines in the 1964-65 factory lightweight Super Stock cars.

Salut

Omaha Orange est une couleur de sécurité (Safety Orange)
a safety color

Safety orange (also known as blaze orange, vivid orange, OSHA orange, hunter orange, Caltrans orange, or Omaha orange) is a hue. Safety orange is used to set objects apart from their surroundings, particularly in complementary contrast to the azure color of the sky (azure is the complementary color of orange, and therefore there is a very strong contrast between the two colors). The color is commonly used for high-visibility clothing
